All air quality data on AQIMap.fun is sourced from the World Air Quality Index (WAQI) project, a comprehensive global air pollution database established in 2007. WAQI aggregates real-time air quality data from environmental protection agencies and monitoring stations worldwide, including:

• EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency)
• CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board, India)
• MEE (Ministry of Ecology and Environment, China)
• EEA (European Environment Agency)
• Hundreds of other governmental and NGO sources

The data is updated every hourly for most stations, with some high-traffic locations updating as frequently as every 15 minutes. We display the most recent available data and cache it for 30 minutes to balance freshness with API efficiency.

For countries or regions where real-time data is unavailable, we provide 2-year historical averages to ensure comprehensive global coverage. These fallback values are clearly marked in the interface.
